Jet Set to Sunshine: The Staples

I have three sisters: the oldest lives in Florida, one is a freshman in college, and the other is a sophomore in high school. It just so happened that the college and high school spring breaks lined up, so the whole family is heading to Florida!

We plan to play a lot of pickleball and lounge by the pool with a good book in hand, and have a couple day trips sprinkled in between.

I much prefer dresses over shorts in the spring/summer heat, but last year I discovered linen shorts and have been hooked! (I know what you’re thinking.. “how did you just discover them Anne?”… but trust me when I say, I do NOT like the feel of shorts on myself). I am patiently waiting to see if Target and J.Crew Factory are bringing back the same style linen shorts as last summer, but I’ll continue to wait, ha! I did snatch up the Target linen pants this year and am excited to style them, although they are a bit see-through, so they might just turn into a beach coverup instead. Style the linen bottoms with a cute blouse or sweater and you have yourself endless outfit options to accessorize.

Now let’s talk about my favorite clothing item — Dresses! Even if you don’t feel put together on the inside, wearing a dress acts as the “fake it ‘til you make it” and effortlessly elevates your appearance. I am 5’3” so I tend to gravitate towards mini length dresses, but I love the style of maxi for the summer: easy and breezy. We’re attending the Miami Open one day on our trip and I plan to wear a linen blend maxi dress with the black strappy sandals above. Dresses are such a versatile piece that can be accessorized up or down, especially in the warmer weather. Wear with flats or sneakers and you’re guaranteed to always look polished, while staying comfortable.
